Community Engagement Initiative: January 2024 in Review

As we welcome a new year, the Community Engagement Initiative (CEI) continues to champion equity and engagement across California’s communities. January was a month filled with significant accomplishments, pivotal moments, and exciting announcements. Let’s take a moment to reflect on our journey this past month and look ahead to what’s coming.

Spotlight on Equity: San Diego Conference

January was highlighted by our participation in the San Diego County Office of Education Equity Conference. Our team not only attended but also presented, sharing a high-level overview of our Community Partnerships for Systems Change process map. It was an enriching experience to exchange ideas with fellow educators, policymakers, and community leaders, all united in their commitment to fostering inclusive and equitable learning environments.

Join the Movement: CEI Applications Now Open

In our continuous effort to expand our impact and embrace new perspectives, we opened applications for new members to join the CEI. This is a unique opportunity for passionate individuals and organizations to contribute to our mission of enhancing community engagement across the state. Applications will remain open until March 15, 2024, and we encourage all who are interested in making a difference to apply.

Tools for Change: Protocol Toolkit Release

We’re thrilled to announce the release of new items in our protocol toolkit. These resources are designed to empower communities and organizations with practical strategies and tools to enhance engagement and equity. The toolkit items reflect our commitment to providing accessible and effective resources that support the work of those trying to engage with others. CEI veterans will recognize classic tools like the Conocimiento, Dot Voting, and Ultima Palabra. We are excited that these tools are now all available for you to conveniently share with your peers.

Looking Ahead Into February

As we move into February, there are several key initiatives and events on the horizon:

  • PLLNs Recap: We’re excited to share insights and outcomes from our Professional Learning and Leadership Networks (PLLNs) in Santa Clara. Stay tuned for a comprehensive recap of the discussions, learning, and collaborations that took place.
  • Interactive Resource Guide Launch: We’re gearing up to launch our new interactive resource guide, a dynamic tool designed to support educators, community leaders, and stakeholders in navigating our extensive library of resources.
  • Anaheim AI Conference: The CEI team is looking forward to attending the Anaheim Union High School District AI K12 Deeper Learning Summit. This event promises to be a convergence of innovation and education, exploring the role of artificial intelligence in shaping the future of learning.

Join Us on This Journey!

As we reflect on a productive January and look forward to the opportunities February holds, we invite you to join us in this journey of community engagement and equity. Whether by participating in our events, applying to join CEI, or utilizing our resources, your involvement is crucial to our collective success.

Thank you for your continued support and commitment to building stronger, more equitable communities. Together, we can make a lasting impact.

– The CEI team
