Deeper Dive into your Wheel- The WHY of your evaluations

An important component in using the Holistic Engagement Wheel is reflecting on the evidence that led to your plotted points. Everyone who completes the wheel should ask, “What evidence led me to assess each root on the wheel the way I did? What is happening or not happening in my school or district that leads me to the point’s placement on the wheel?”

On the Holistic Engagement Wheel document, take time now to list the evidence in the Evidence sections on the second page.

  • For highly rated components: What evidence in your district, school, or context supports your evaluation?
  • For lower-rated components: What evidence supports this evaluation in your district, school, or context? What may be lacking that leads you to a lower point on the continuum?

Individual to Group – Essential Path to Holistic Engagement Wheel Results

  • Individual reflections and evaluations are important. By having individuals use the wheel and assess each Root, all voices and perspectives will contribute to the holistic exploration of how a school or district addresses the Six Essential Roots.

  • But the wheel’s use doesn’t stop with individual evaluation. The Holistic Engagement Wheel is a collaborative tool to use with your community members. While you may be completing the wheel today individually, this is just a starting point. It is best practice to use this with diverse stakeholders representing your families, students, staff, and community partners.
