Rocklin Academy Family of Schools
Our Family Engagement Journey
Rocklin Academy Family of Schools is a network of public charter schools serving students in preschool through 12th grade in Placer and Sacramento Counties. Rocklin Academy was founded in 2000 by a group of educators and families seeking to create a school where parents are valued partners who strengthen our school and program. Our first school opened with 100 students. We continued to grow our enrollment slowly adding a second small elementary school and a middle school/ high school. The slow, steady growth allowed for the cultivation of a culture of strong parent-school partnership to grow and thrive. In 2013 we doubled in size by adding our largest school, Rocklin Academy Gateway, opening the school year with over 800 new students and families to our schools. The exponential growth brought challenges in ensuring our culture of parent partnership remained consistent throughout our schools.
In addition to growth, the political divide experienced throughout the country over the last several years impacted our school community. Parents and teachers were apprehensive in building relationships and felt isolated in their approach towards student success. This led us to the Community Engagement Initiative where we hope to learn tools and strategies to develop meaningful and authentic relationships between the school and families.
